The Mansfield Robotics camp is Mansfield solution to the problems associated with the programs that are run as part of normal school year. These programs are often a very large commitment and can be daunting to new students that have no experience with robotics. Also, it can be more difficult to focus on individual skills and concepts during the normal school year as students are far more focused on the act of creating a robot rather than the process of designing and producing it. Furthermore, for some students the excitement and the energy of the program run at Mansfield Middle School is overwhelming.
To meet each of the challenges we have different segments of the Mansfield Summer Robotics Camp, each with there own focus and environment.
This camp is designed to teach novice roboticists how to design, build, and drive robots for various functions. Starting with learning from pre-designed kits and courses, campers will experience engineer-ing through a supportive curriculum. Students who have little knowledge of robotics, or want to establish a strong foundation, are perfect for this camp. This system transitions into student-led problem solving periods, in which they will learn the engineering process through experimentation. Our goal is to leave campers with what we hope to be a love of robotics as well as an understanding of the majority of basic engineering concepts .
This camp is for those who already have a solid understanding of basic engineering concepts and are ready to take it to the next level. The main goal of this camp is to begin construction of robots for the 2015-2016 VEX Robotics Competition game. Through this camp students will learn many of the more complex concepts that are normally glossed over during the year. It will create and refine design and engineering concepts beyond simply building a robot, giving them the tools to design and construct a world class robot.
Woman in Math, Science, and Engineering (WIMSE) Camp
This camp is designed to teach and encourage young female roboticists in how to design, build, and drive robots for various functions. Starting with learning from pre-designed kits and courses, campers will experience engineering through a supportive curriculum. This system transitions into student-led problem solving periods, in which they will learn the engineering process through experimentation. Our goal is to provide a fun and supportive environment that will leave campers with a love of engineering.
